3. Organize band music and exercises as listed on chalkboard.
Classroom Expectations
Discipline. Students will demonstrate self-discipline and a positive classroom behavior.
Order. Class procedures will be followed.
Respect. Students will show respect for others.
Following these expectations will result in an excellent band and rewards for the students.
Not following these expectations will have a negative effect on the rehearsal environment. It will also result in a phone call home to parents, time-out, detention, and/or an office referral.
Grading
There are 4 categories in which students are graded:
1. Individual Playing Tests – 20 Points
2. Written Tests – 20 Points
3. Ensemble Playing Skills – 3 Points a Day
- Was student prepared for rehearsal?
- Did student follow classroom expectations?
- Did student demonstrate correct musical skills?
4. Concert Performances – 200 Points
- Failure to attend a concert will result in a “U” for that quarter.
8th grade students will also complete an end-of-year music assessment.
In order to maintain a good grade, students must practice regularly.

Evening concerts - Concert attire will consist of dress clothes, including dress socks and shoes. Skirts, if worn, must be long and well below knee length.
